growing grass...

Sorry I've been skipping...it's just me. I'm a flibbertigibbet.

I was shopping a few weeks ago and saw something very similar to this in a gift shop. Except it was plastic grass. Mine is real. So, not only do I have a cool little center piece but I enjoyed the added bonus of watching it grow. I'm curious to see how long it lasts. Rodney's response was that he wished he had about 200 acres of it to feed to the cows.

Which one doesn't belong?

At a glance, this photo looks like just a bunch of goat's butts but there, in front, is the oddball out. Her momma died a couple weeks ago and she became my baby and became a member of the goat herd. They didn't like her much at first but she didn't seem to care. I love that way nature decides not to be prejudice.

All of the does have fully swollen bellies and blossoming udders. Baby goats are in the offing. And, I can hardly stand the wait.

Fur Children

I took this yesterday evening during that amazing sunset phenomena. It is rare that I get all four dogs in the same frame. I also had my settings on manual focus so it's not sharp...but I think it's sweet anyway.

Misty Sunset

My heart caught in my throat when I glanced outside this afternoon. I couldn't get my camera fast enough for fear it wouldn't last long and, it didn't. Today was the first day I didn't have to think of anything to take a picture of, I just had to grab my camera and shoot what God put on display. I have about a dozen different angles but this was one of the better shots...although I don't think I could have messed this one up.

Lunch

I know I skipped two days but there is good explanation which I'll not go into here...

Inspired by the lunch I had at the Purple Cow last weekend, I just fashioned and devoured a most amazing salad. Thank you God for the gift of edible leafy greens. (And Raspberry Walnut dressing)

A Taco of a different color.

When I bought my Saanen does last April, I got a bonus...this dude. The lady I bought him from said she didn't think he'd turn out to be much but she was just glad he wasn't going to end up a taco. So, guess what we named him? Taco! He does have eyes behind that pompous hairdo. I was later informed, after he was generously given to us, that his mother was turning out to be much more substantial than once thought and I probably got a really good deal on a really nice buck. The most exciting thing is that in just a couple of weeks, his offspring are going to begin being born. I've got 12 does and if each of them has twins, I'm gonna be in baby goat heaven.

Sunset

When Taylor sent me the picture of her sunset, I decided to run out and take a picture of the sunset out my own front door to send her way. I think God was showing off last night :-)

Vicarious vacation

Taylor is in Florida and has been sending me sweet texts and pictures. This will be her last night there and I just received this beautiful sunset. I wish I was sitting there next to her but it thrills me that she is getting to experience it all.

Nerd alert!

I downloaded a new OS for my Mac, then updated... simply so I could have access to the Mac-app store. Now I'm happy.

A piece of sky

Sunrises like this never get boring...and this is just one tiny little corner of it. I am so thankful for my life.

Sweetness

I've still been rearranging things since the Christmas decor went to the attic. The "cozy corner" was still lacking something. I meandered through the house looking for something to go with Rodney's deer head since its placement is sort of non negotiable...soooo I put my iddy-biddy antlers next to it and, my heart was flooded with love! Look how cute they are perched there together on the wall. I like it!!

There she goes...

She left to go back to college today, that vibrant precious daughter of mine. We had a ball while she was here and I will miss her until we meet again.

...I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart.

Meditation

This picture isn't from today but it still makes me happy. Anna is my sweet little cousin that loves to come see me and play on the farm. About a week ago we were playing around in the hay barn and she posed for me. Hippy tie-dyed shirt and all...we are definitely soul mates!

I'm thinking Emma may end up in at least half my pictures this year.

CAKE

Finding time to just be home and bake in my kitchen...bliss. The cake's not bad either.

I love you because...

Saw this on Pinterest last night and had to implement it into our home. I can't wait to see the things that will show up on this simple frame and the joy it will bring to our marriage and our home.

Honey Bee

It is a welcomed spring-like day on the farm this January 5th. I've opened my windows which allowed a little honey bee to find his way in the house. It is always a thrill to capture these amazing creatures and let them go. Those moments of contact between beast and human never cease to bring me joy. I imagine what he might tell the rest of the hive when he returns home.

Eggs!!

Having friends who have chickens that lay eggs that are for sale which Rodney will cook, definitely brings me joy!

Morning hugs

Since my goal is to take pictures of that which inspires or brings joy, it was just a matter of time before these guys showed up. =)

Home

I started this new blog in an attempt to share a little bit of what my heart sees. The pictures will not always be technically correct or even awe-inspiring, but just what inspires me or brings me joy. Don't expect too much writing to go along with the photos, if any. Some shots will come from my big camera and will be well thought out, some will be from my iPhone, because it's always there when I need to capture a moment.

My goal is to post a picture a day for this year.

Today, I'm posting "home". Walking home this evening from my stroll with the doggies, I couldn't help but feel an unbelievable joy and appreciation for the little corner of the earth that God placed me. Off in the distance, in the golden stream of evening sun, my home awaits me. It is there I am at peace. It is out here on the road in the cool evening breeze, walking with human legs, breathing with miraculous lungs that I give my life to God and know that I am merely a traveler here. To have a place to be loved, to be understood, to be seen, to matter... is such a gift.
